Known as “injectable RF (Radiofrequency),” ThermiTight (also known as ThermiRF) is the first aesthetic procedure, which delivers controlled thermal energy under the skin to reverse the effects of aging and lack of elasticity. ThermiTight is a minimally invasive method to tighten deeper tissues and is commonly used as an alternative to a facelift, or for those who don’t want surgery. This treatment tightens skin in the neck and lower face to lift the jowls and neck area, and is also great for those stubborn areas like your abdomen, obliques, flanks, and legs. One treatment lasts 3 years.
Q: What is ThermiTight / ThermiRF?
A: ThermiTight is the first aesthetic procedure, which delivers controlled thermal energy under the skin to reverse the effects of aging. ThermiTight is a minimally invasive method to tighten loose skin and deeper tissues. It is commonly used in the neck and lower face to lift the jowls and the neck, as well as lift loose skin in the body.
Q: How does ThermiTight ThermiRF work?
A: In the past, the RF energy was delivered through transducers over the skin. Since the skin is very sensitive to heat, the amount of energy that can be delivered is limited. ThermiTight is innovative in that it completely bypasses the outer portion of the skin and delivers the RF energy from below. A tiny probe is inserted under the skin; then, radiofrequency energy is applied directly to the target tissues causing immediate shrinkage. This allows for optimal heating of the deep tissues, targeting dermal collagen fibers, without causing any damage to the overlying skin. Temperatures to the deep tissue can be reached that were never possible before with older technology.
Q: How does ThermiTight / ThermiRF compare to Ultherapy? Microneedling and PRP? Sillouette Instalift?
A: Ultherapy is the most advanced NON-Invasive procedure the lifts the muscle and skin of the face and neck, whereas ThermiTight is the most advanced SEMI-Invasive treatment with dramatic lifting as a facelift alternative. Ultherapy lasts 1 year and you can return to normal activity immediately, where ThermiTight lasts 3 years and you have swelling and bruising potentially for a week or longer. Microneedling RF has a slight tightening effect, but also treats deep wrinkles and scars for a 3-in-1 re-volumizing result. Ultherapy and ThermiTight are not for deep lines and scars. Sillouette Instalift uses dissolvable threads made of Sculptra to lift and volumize the mid face and lasts a year to two years. ThermiRF is the best option for the lower face, and lasts 3 years.
Q: Is ThermiTight / ThermiRF a substitute for a facelift?
A: ThermiTight is the best option we believe as a non-surgical alternative to a facelift/necklift, but at this time there is no equivalent non-surgical substitute for a facelift. The best treatment to correct loose jowls and a hanging neck is a facelift and neck lift surgery. ThermiTight is an in-between procedure performed on people that may not yet be ready for a facelift/necklift or people that do not want to have a surgical procedure.
Q: Is ThermiTight / ThermiRF a laser?
A: ThermiTight is not a laser. Unlike RF energy, Laser energy is absorbed by the pigment in the skin’s surface, whereas the RF energy stimulates the production of collagen (which supports the skin) from within. ThermiRF can be used to tighten the skin of the face, neck, back, chest and arms, stomach, legs, and practically anywhere there is loose skin. ThermiRF is the first aesthetic therapy with temperature control monitoring above and below the skin. This means we can set the desired temperature and deliver the therapy reducing risk of burns to the patient.
Q: Who is the typical patient for ThermiTight / ThermiRF?
A: ThermiTight is ideal for patients who want more results than non-invasive procedures can deliver, and yet still DO NOT want surgery.
Q: What are the target areas for ThermiTight / ThermiRF?
A: ThermiTight is great for problem areas of the face, neck, tummy, arms, thighs and other tissues (i.e. bra fat, love handles).
Q: What are the side effects of ThermiTight / ThermiRF?
A: Most patients have minimal to no discomfort after the procedure. A little numbness is normal. Any discomfort can be treated with Tylenol (Acetaminophen). Rarely will any stronger pain medications be necessary. Patients may experience swelling, redness, and some bruising, and are usually able to return to normal activity within 24 hours. Generally, swelling lasts from 3 to 7 days after the procedure.
Q: Are there any incisions?
A: No. ThermiTight is performed through small needle punctures by the ears and under the chin. The ThermiTight probe is inserted through these areas and threaded underneath the skin. Sutures are not necessary. For this reason, ThermiTight is often referred to as the minimally-invasive injectable RF.
Q: How long does the Treatment take?
A: The entire treatment is typically done in less than an hour depending on the protocol and the treatment zone.
Q: Does ThermiTight / TherniRF hurt?
A: No. ThermiTight is commonly performed with an injected local block in the area to be treated, and you will be comfortable throughout the procedure. Some people take a mild sedative to relax them during the procedure. Swelling and some bruising is likely; adhering to aftercare instructions will minimize these effects.
Q: Will I have pain after the procedure?
A: Most patients have minimal discomfort after the procedure. A little numbness is normal that can last weeks to a few months. Any discomfort can be treated with Tylenol (Acetaminophen). Rarely will any stronger pain medications be necessary.
Q: How long will I be swollen?
A: Patients may experience slight swelling and redness and are usually able to return to normal activity within 24 hours. Generally, swelling lasts from 3 to 7 days after the procedure, and in some cases can last weeks.
Q: How long before I see results?
A: Results can be immediate and improve over time. ThermiTight works by heating the skin and deeper tissues. This induces your body to create tightening in those areas. Most people start to see results in 30 days after the procedure but the results will continue over the next several months. In about 3 months most of the results are seen, but they can continue to improve for about one year after the procedure.
Q: How many treatments will I need?
A: ThermiTight only requires one treatment
Q: How long will my ThermiTight / ThermiRF results last?
A: ThermiTight causes long-term tightening to the areas being treated that lasts 3 years.
Q: What makes ThermiTight / ThermiRF safe?
A: During the procedure the ThermiRF device has an internal thermistor that monitors the temperature and maintains it at the level set by the nurse. This varies depending upon the area being treated. In addition to the internal temperature, an infrared thermal camera(FLIR) is used to monitor the temperature of your skin. This allows for effective treatment of the skin and also serves as a safety mechanism. If the temperature starts to rise above the desired levels, the machine is shut off. This makes ThermiTight very safe.
Q: Can I combine ThermiTight / ThermiRF with other procedures?
A: ThermiTight can be combined with other cosmetic procedures such as resurfacing and injectables.
Q: Who should not receive ThermiTight / ThermiRF?
A: Although ThermiTight RF treatments can be used safely on nearly all patients, those with extremely loose skin or sagging of the deeper fascia layer may require surgery such as a face lift.
Q: How much does ThermiTight cost?
A: The cost of ThermiTight varies according to the areas being treated. To learn more, please request a consultation with us by calling 248-663-0161.
