In the Skin and Laser business, you will see a range of prices for the same machine or general application (ie chemical peels). So many factors go in to the cost, and the cheapest might not be the deal you bargained for.
Chemical peels:
This is a general name that gives no indicator as to the type of peel you are getting. Factors such as:
Percentage
PH
Type of acid(s)
How it is applied
How long applied
Depth of penetration
Skill of the person administering
All of these factors influence your result and cost. At FACE, we have over 2 dozen peels and combinations of peels that we customize to the individual to get the maximum benefit possible to the skin. We take into consideration YOUR personal skin as opposed to the general publics.
Lasers/ Energy Devices:
Not all lasers and medical equipment are created equal, nor are the people who administer them. For instance, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). I had a client who swore by a nurse in Birmingham, MI to get her laser work years ago. She was at 10 IPL treatments by this time, but was going there because the price was so low. I told her, she needed to come and see me for my IPL Treatment. She came in, and in 2 treatments, we did what the other place couldn’t do in 10 sessions.
I had another client who heard that she could get Genesis for $75 less at a local plastic surgeons office. This was $75 lower than what even the company recommends. When we looked into it, we found out that they did 2,000 pulses less during the treatment! Your results depend on the number of pulses we put into the skin. She may not notice it that day, she will in the long run as the rejuvenation process will be compromised. While that client has decided to go there, she doesn’t realize that she is getting what she pays for.
Ultherapy:
This new alternative to a facelift is the hottest thing since injectables. The average cost that all reputable doctors and skin clinic charge is $1,500-$3,500. I had 2 people come in for consultations who told me there was a place in town doing it for much less. Well, of coarse I researched this, and even spoke to the company which they even disagreed with what the other place was doing, because there is such a small margin of profit, that if they go below, they will lose money. Then how are they doing it for less if they would lose money? Great question. They would have to put less pulses into the skin, to save on costs. The biggest cost, besides the six figures it costs for the equipment, is the pulses we put into the skin. Every pulse costs a ton of money. So, less pulses, less cost to the clinic, less cost to the patient, and LESS RESULTS!
So, would I rather lose those clients to another place that is cheaper? Yes. I have build my 15 year solid reputation on bringing my clients the best of the best in technology AND results, and I refuse to compromise price, which means compromised quality.
