Q: How does RESTYLANE SILK® work?
Restylane Silk® is a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid — a sugar that is naturally present in your skin. Its unique particle gel formula, along with an ultra-fine needle designed for improved accuracy, helps give you softer, more precise results for the most natural-looking smile.
Q: What makes RESTYLANE SILK® different?
The gel is made of smaller, smoother particles than those utilized in other Restylane products. Like other areas of the face, the lips and skin surrounding the mouth show signs of aging as an individual gets older. This often results in lip thinning, lost shape and an increase in vertical lines above the lip. Restylane Silk® is designed specifically to provide natural-looking results in those areas.
Q: How long does RESTYLANE SILK® last?
A: Because the lips are in constant motion, longevity has always been a problem for fillers in the area. Previous products often lasted only three to four months in lips versus six months in smile lines that Restylane Silk® gives. In a clinical study with 221 mostly female patients, treated with Restylane Silk® or no treatment, clinical investigators reported that 98 percent had visible improvement 14 days after injection, and 76 percent still had lip improvement at six months.
Q: RESTYLANE SILK® hurt?
A: The lips are perhaps the most sensitive area of the body, and the combination of the tiny needle and the inclusion of lidocaine in the formula provides a more comfortable experience.
Q: Are there any side effects or risks to having RESTYLANE SILK®?
A: Effects of filler may include lip swelling, bruising, and pain. This can be minimized by avoiding St. John’s Wort, Vitamin E, fish oils, aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (ibuprofen) before having the Restylane Silk® injection, as these could increase the chances of bleeding. We also recommend arnica tablets three days prior to help minimize bruising.
