Treatments For Excessive Sweating

Sweating is a normal, healthy process because it’s the body’s way of regulating temperature.  However, excessive sweating, also known as hyperhidrosis, is something quite different. People with hyperhidrosis sweat much more than needed, even without any physical exertion.  Hyperhidrosis typically affects the armpits, hands, and feet.

Excessive sweating can be an embarrassing and frustrating condition, so at Face Skincare Medical Wellness, in Michigan, we are pleased to offer the very best excessive sweating treatment options.

What Treatment Options Are Available For Excessive Sweating

miraDry: miraDry is a minimally invasive treatment for sweating in the armpits, also known as axillary hyperhidrosis.   Excessive underarm sweating is typically caused by overactive sweat glands, and miraDry treats the condition by removing the sweat and odor glands.  This is done using thermal energy to target the sweat and odor glands.  A local anesthetic is administered at the start of the procedure, and this ensures treatment is comfortable throughout.

miraDry is clinically proven to reduce sweating by up to 82%.  Most clients need only one treatment to see optimal results with miraDry. The results of miraDry are long-lasting because the treated glands do not grow back.

BOTOX®: BOTOX® injectable is well-known for its wrinkle-smoothing benefits, but most people don’t know about BOTOX® for hyperhidrosis.  The use of botox for hyperhidrosis, specifically axillary hyperhidrosis, was approved by the FDA in 2004.

BOTOX® works by blocking the release of chemical messengers that cause muscles to contract.  When injected into the underarms, botox blocks the chemical that stimulates the sweat glands. As a result, the underarms are dry.

BOTOX® for hyperhidrosis is a temporary treatment that is well-tolerated by patients. The results typically last 3-4 months.

Micro-Tox™: While best known for its incredible aesthetic capabilities to fully rejuvenate the face, the Micro-Tox™ facial can also reduce the amount of sweat and oil on your face with regular treatments. Enjoy a beautifully renewed complexion and less worry about facial sweat and oil that can cause breakouts.

Is There Any Downtime?

There is no downtime after miraDry or botox for hyperhidrosis, so patients are usually able to resume normal activities after treatment.

Most of our clients that have received excessive sweating treatment experience a significant improvement in the quality of life after the procedure. Our Skin Management Experts would be happy to provide you with an evaluation of excessive sweating.
